Yo.
My name is Bianca Serraty, born to Dominican immigrants and raised in NYC, I have seen both struggle and opportunity. I started writing because I love words, and I think that because English is my second language that was shocking to some people. What was more shocking was that not only could I use my words well, I could make them feel. I shaped worlds with my words, and now I am ready to walk them.
I love the way words sound and make you feel, the way they look on the page as they spill out of your pen. What I love more is connecting with people who feel the same. Those who get goosebumps raised when someone finds the right cadence, who can see the soul behind the story being told. Poetry saved my life; it was and continues to be an outlet for things that have nowhere else to go. And who better to talk to than a blank page?
On these pages, you can expect to be enthralled, to feel what I felt on the days I thought I couldn’t feel any more. Love, passion, grief, desire, solemness, and hopefully some acceptance. This is one poem a day, the world through my lens, where I am both the narrator and main character. I hope that, for at least five minutes a day, this helps you feel something.
